NAFTA DEFINITIONS

 

Good:                    A finished product qualifying under NAFTA.

Material:                A component that is made into a "Good."   

(Note that a "Good"    may become a "Material:" An electrical cord ("Good") is used ("Material") in a refrigerator ("Good").)

Party:                     One of the three member states: Canada, Mexico, or the United States.

Originating:          A Good that qualifies for NAFTA treatment.

Non-Originating: A "Good": that does not qualify for NAFTA treatment.

The "Non-Originating Good"  may be made in any of the parties (but not meet one of the preference criterion), or  have been produced somewhere else in the world.
